2004-12-01 — Brings a new meaning to Days of Our Lives.
But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruit worthy of repentance. Do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our ancestor’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. Even now the ax is lying at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. “I baptize you with water for repentance, but one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

Hi! I’m leading a weekly women’s Bible study on the book of Matthew here in Bratislava, Slovakia (that’s in Europe) and I go to the ELCA-SK Lutheran church sponsored Bratislava International Church here. I used to be an ELCA church secretary in Georgia (the US state, not the country) and I used Agnus Day every week in the bulletin. I just loved your comics. So I thought I’d include one in the homework sheet I put together for the study everyweek, just so we remember we’re not taking it all so seriously. I’ll send you a copy of a sheet if you request it (as I sent you a bulletin when we started putting the comics in it in GA), but I’m hoping I can let it slide. Its good I get a choice each week from the archives (we do several chapters a week). That way I can laugh a lot & weed out the US only cultural jokes. This week, I chose the 2004 Matt. 3:1-12, last week on God’s Salvation Story… Thank you for your ministry.
